Cleaning Calcium Buildup from Tea Kettle?

I have crazy amounts of calcium in the water, my small tea kettle looks AWFUL and I am having a heck of a time trying to clean it out.

Any suggestions??

Its a small one and my hand really does not fit, thinking a sponge on a stick thing but the calcium is so hard to get out as it is.

I do have rock salt & can make ice to try swirling that later. wondering what you all think???

How can I clean the inside of a tea kettle?

It is stainless steal with a copper bottom. It is really old(made in 1968). The inside of it is dirty, possibly rusted??? What is the bet way to get the inside clean and with what product??
Yes, I plan on using it. I wouldn’t worry about cleaning the inside out if it was just for decoration. My husband told me that it was not rust it was just calcium build up and whatever else forms in kettles over time. How safe is it to use this kettle? How about after I have cleaned it??

What happens if you place a piece of coral in a tea kettle?

I’m trying to find a way to remove calcium from the water boiling in the tea kettle, while it is boiling. If you place a piece of coral inside the tea kettle, and then boil the water (and then also use the water for drinking tea), will the coral absorb the calcium in the water and will the water be drinkable?
