White Stuff in my plastic kettle?

I’m on my second white plastic hot water electric kettle and I can’t figure out why there’s always this ugly sediment in it. I only use bottled spring water. Is that scale? Lime?

when I pour hot Water from the kettle into my ceramic mug that is on my Granite countertop. It leaks.?

Or does it? Everytime I pour water from the kettle that is boiling hot into the ceramic mug it looks as if it leaks. However, Non of my mugs are actually leaking and this happens with all the ceramic mugs that are on top of the granite countertop when I pour hot water into them. Is this condensation?

Is it OK to put warm water into a kettle?

I’ve just moved into my own place and the cold water takes ages to come through – my mum’s always told me that you should only pour cold water into a kettle before boiling it because otherwise it’s not sanitary. But I had my friend over the other night and he was saying, dont bother waiting, just put in hot water. He said as it gets boiled the water is sterilised anyway, and that it’s also energy efficient and doesn’t take as long to boil. Who’s right?

Do you know the best brand of cordless electric kettle and where can I buy it?

I’m looking to replace a stainless steel one cordless kettle made by GE – it takes forever for it to boil!
It looks like a regular kettle, except it sits on a base that looks about like a trivet with an electric cord that plugs in. You leave it on your counter top, filled with water. Then when you are in need of hot water for soup, tea, cocoa, instant oatmeal, whatever, click it on and the water comes to boiling in a minute or two and automatically shuts off (if it’s a good one). Any recommendations?
