I have a stainless steel tea kettle and was wondering if it is okay to use on a glass top stove. I am only wandering because I have read that it is not good to use certain types of kettles on them. Also, if it is okay, what heat setting should it be heated on?

I have only been able to find energy efficient kettles on British websites but none on US equivalents such as Amazon.com (only on amazon.co.uk) I’d rather buy one from a US store to avoid paying international shipping and the added expense due to the exchange rate. Anybody know where I can find one?

It is stainless steal with a copper bottom. It is really old(made in 1968). The inside of it is dirty, possibly rusted??? What is the bet way to get the inside clean and with what product??
Yes, I plan on using it. I wouldn’t worry about cleaning the inside out if it was just for decoration. My husband told me that it was not rust it was just calcium build up and whatever else forms in kettles over time. How safe is it to use this kettle? How about after I have cleaned it??

I notice that plastic kettles are common and used to boil water, sometimes for cooking instant noodles or to provide drinking. Is drinking water boiled from plastic kettles carcinogenic? Do they cause cancer?

My father always leaves the tea kettle on the stove – even while cooking dinner, and I think this one has been on the stove literally – a couple of years. While he is out of town, whats the best way to clean it.

Elbow grease, scouring pads and scouring powder barely made it budge,
Any miracles out there?

I don’t want to replace it, because my father is hard of hearing, and its one of the few kettles he can hear – otherwise the kettles boil dry.
