Is $10 too much for a tea kettle at a yard sale?

Sort of a random question, but I needed a kettle, and I saw one in a garage/yard sale. It was nice and looked like it hadn’t been used before (was in original box). But the price was , which I personally thought should’ve been at the most. What do you think?
It was just metal, and it had some logo on the box I can’t remember, so it might have been a bit expensive…
Tea kettle was stainless steel.

can i cook brown rice using just boiling water from a kettle?

I eat brown rice regularly (it is the majority of what i eat on a dairly basis) and last month I moved to a university residence where stove tops are not available. All I own is an electric stainless steel water kettle (and there’s a microwave, but I don’t like using it..)

what are the guidelines to cooking brown rice using only the appliances I have? Best answers are those that avoid using microwave

Do you know the best brand of cordless electric kettle and where can I buy it?

I’m looking to replace a stainless steel one cordless kettle made by GE – it takes forever for it to boil!
It looks like a regular kettle, except it sits on a base that looks about like a trivet with an electric cord that plugs in. You leave it on your counter top, filled with water. Then when you are in need of hot water for soup, tea, cocoa, instant oatmeal, whatever, click it on and the water comes to boiling in a minute or two and automatically shuts off (if it’s a good one). Any recommendations?
